Animal Aunts was created by Gillie McNicol in 1987 to provide a new concept of animal care, home care, and security. People with animals can find going away very difficult. Who will exercise the horse, feed the chickens or sheep, take the dogs for a walk, talk to the parrot or stroke the cat? Who will love your animals as you do? Who will care for your home? Who will sort those problems that can arise when your home is left unattended? How can we enhance security? Animal Aunts will do all of this and more.
Gillie has worked professionally with horses,
livestock and domestic animals both in the U.K. and abroad. In 1982-1984 she ran
the Crete branch of the Hellenic Animal Welfare Fund. Gillie has an expert
office team who between them have extensive experience in caring for animals
including horses, livestock and domestic animals. Using their expertise they can
select the most suitable “Aunt” to look after your home and animals.
Animal Aunts comprise a team of over 450 people who have a wide variety
of experience in caring for animals of all types. The "Aunts" (be they female,
male or couples) are all interviewed personally and must provide impeccable
references. We have never needed to advertise for Animal Aunts as every week up
to 30 people apply. We can therefore be very selective and maintain the high
standard of our team.
Animal Aunts may come from any walk of life and be aged from 21 to over 80. What
they all have in common is integrity, honesty, fitness, a love of animals.
Animal Aunts are based all over the country and are available to travel anywhere
the job requires, including abroad. Animal Aunts have cared for animals all over
Europe from Greece to Sweden, in the USA, and even Australia. So wherever you
are we can help you. Since 1987 we have completed over 90,000 bookings.
Animal Aunts provides an unique service which takes the worry out of holidays,
business trips, weekends away or spells in hospital. We offer you peace of mind
in the knowledge that your animals are happy and your house secure while you are
away.
The Aunts enhance the security for your house by "being there" almost 24 hours a
day. They will water your plants, forward your mail, keep the house tidy, the
garden ticking over and buy food for your return if required.
